Alexander Chang, President
Hello everyone! I am a senior in bioengineering with a minor in music, and I'm excited to help UIUC BMES continue to grow. My current research interest is in movement disorders, and I have been pursuing this in the Mobility and Fall Prevention Laboratory, investigating disorders such as Parkinson's disease and multiple sclerosis. Outside of school I've been a pianist for 14 years, and an amateur 3D artist for seven. You also might see me outside taking pictures of random animals for the squirrel and birdwatching club.

Shreya Gustafson, Vice President
Hey, y'all! I'm Shreya, a senior in Bioengineering in the Imaging and Sensing track, and this year's Vice President! Feel free to reach out to me with any questions about BMES. I also work with Dr. Cvetkovic in various engineering education projects, and research with Illinois Biodiesel Initiative (IBI). You might also recognize me as a Bioengineering Department Ambassador, or as an ELA for ENG 100 last year. Whenever I'm blessed with some free time, I love to draw and play tennis, piano, or video games. Fun fact: I love vocal jazz!

Elyse Huang, Director of Recruitment
Hi!!! I am a junior in Bioengineering with a minor in Chemistry on the premed track! This is my second year serving as Director of Recruitment, and I am so excited to continue organizing BMES Buddies and planning events! Everyone in BMES is so welcoming, and we offer tons of wonderful resources for those interested in the Bio/Biomedical engineering field! Apart from academics, I love to read and bake/cook for my friends! I look forward to meeting everyone this year~!
Avni Varshney, Industrial Relations Chair
Hi! I am a junior in bioengineering with minors in computer science and Hoeft technolgy and management. Outside of BMES I am a TA for BioE201, a CARE tutor, and a project manager for iMade. I spend my free time at the gym, watching reality tv, and taking naps.
Fun Fact: I love boba so much that I am recognized at boba stores on campus.
Roxana Jafari Haddadian, Secretary
Hey guys! I’m Roxana and I’m a junior studying Neural Engineering with a minor in Computer Science. Last year, I was BMES’s DEI Chair and I look forward to serving as Secretary this year! Outside of BMES, I’m a member of Kappa Theta Tau, an ELA for ENG 100, I love going to the gym, listening to music, playing music, and watching TV (I’ve watched Breaking Bad three times and I’m planning to watch it again in the fall). Mehir Shah, Technical Programs Manager
Hi! I’m Mehir and I’m a sophomore studying bioengineering with an interest in the Cell and Tissue Engineering Track. Last year, I joined an EOH team through BMES and was able to qualify for an award, and this year, I hope to help new projects do the same. In addition to BMES, I am also involved in research, Solar Car, and another medical device-related project. Outside of that, I enjoy going to the gym, playing sports, and watching TV. Fun fact: I am a certified EMT.
Natalia Tyrala, Outreach Chair
Hi everyone! My name is Natalia Tyrala and I am a sophomore studying neural engineering with a minor in computer science. Last year I was on the BMES social committee, and I am excited to serve as the outreach chair this year! Outside of BMES I am a member of Neurotech, I love watching movies, going on walks and traveling.

Reyanna Paul, Social Chair
Hi! My name is Reyanna and I'm a junior in bioengineering (on the therapeutics track) with a minor in chemistry. I am also on the pre-med track. This will be my third year being a part of BMES - I was the manager of BMES' Buddies Program in my freshman year and am reprising my role as Social Chair this year, which I first held my sophomore year. I'm looking forward to bringing everyone in BMES together and having a great time! I'm also involved in The Daily Illini, a podcast called "Inspired to Heal," the Wu Lab in the MCB department, and serve as an ELA for ENG 100! In my free time, I love reading, listening to music, and watching movies!

Darian Tabrizi, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Director
Hey everyone! My name is Darian (or DJ), and I’m a junior in Bioengineering with minors in computer science and chemistry. I’m looking forward to hosting DEI events for our chapter this year! Outside of BMES, I am involved in the Biomedical Engineering Journal Club (BMEJC) and Theta Tau. In my free time, I enjoy playing basketball, photography, and baking!
