ABOUT THE OUTREACH COMMITTEE
The Outreach Committee hopes to both intrigue and educate students and community members about the exciting advancements and opportunities in the biotech and healthcare industries, as well as STEM careers overall. We accomplish through large scale outreach events, classroom visits, and partnerships with other groups. Additionally, the committee hopes to give back to the community through fundraising and volunteer efforts. Please contact the outreach director, Noshin Nawar (firstname.lastname@example.org), with any opportunities to partner with your organization or questions about our work.
Our middle school program involves BMES going to a local middle school once a month to teach a biology lesson. Through interactive activities we teach the students about both engineering and biology.
We partner with other organizations on and off campus, such as the Orpheum Children's museum and the Society of Women Engineers, to collaborate and assist with their events.
We volunteer throughout the Champaign Urbana community with our monthly volunteer events. Past events include volunteering for our annual campus day of service (iHelp) and volunteering at a local museum.
